Abuja Court Remand Omoleye Sowore in Kuje Prison
The Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded the presidential aspirant of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore in the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The presiding judge, Justice Muhammad Umar issued the order on Monday, June 22, 2026, after setting aside application by Sowore asking the judge to step down from the case.
Sowore will remain in custody until Wednesday, June 23, when the court will commence hearing of application filed by his new counsel seeking to set aside the order revoking his bail and the bench warrant issued against him.
The Department of State Services is prosecuting Sowore on the allegations of cyberstalking and criminal defamation after he allegedly labeled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a “criminal” in posts published on his X and Facebook accounts in August, 2025.
