Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Has Been Killed.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader since 1989, was killed in his office on Saturday morning, 28 February, 2026, during US-Israeli air strikes, the state media has confirmed.
United States President Donald Trump had earlier in a social media post said that the Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed by US-Israeli strikes on Tehran.
According to BBC News, Trump has described the killing as a “justice” for the people of Iran, Americans, and “the people from many countries throughout the land.”
President Trump further said that bombing will continue and that “this is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their country,” that he is hopeful “the IRGC and the police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as as a unit to bring back the country to the Greatness it deserves.”
Trump concluded his statement by saying that, “The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST, INDEED, THE WORLD!”
The Washington Post reported that in retaliation for US-Israeli air strikes, Iran fired missiles at Israel and at least seven Arab states on Saturday. The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait confirmed hits, while Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan and Qater said they intercepted missiles. In Israel, officials reported only injuries. In Dubai, a prominent hotel was hit.
