JAMB Sets October 31 Deadline For University Admissions
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB has fixed October 31, 2026 as deadline for all public universities to conclude their admission processes for 2026/2027 academic session.
The decision was reached at the 2026 JAMB Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja on Monday, May 11, 2026.
During the meeting which was attended by vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts and other education stakeholders, to review admission procedures and harmonise timelines for institutions nationwide, private universities were given until November 30, 2026 to conclude their own admission processes.
Polytechnics, monotechnics and Colleges of Education were mandated to conclude their exercises by December 31, 2026.
The adoption of these deadlines aimed at streamlining the admissions process and ensuring uniformity across tertiary institutions in the country.
The board therefore, warned that any institution that fails to conclude admission within the stipulated period would lose access to candidates on the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
Under the new policy, candidates are allowed a four-week grace period to either accept or reject admission offers, and any admission not accepted within the timeframe would be deleted upon the institution’s request.
