Former Accountant General and immediate past Permanent Secretary, Liaison Office, Abuja, Dr. Zakka Yakubu has issued a formal declaration to contest for the governorship of Nasarawa State in 2027 general elections.
In a statement posted on his facbook page, Zakka said he has decided to present himself to serve the people of Nasarawa State in a new capacity after due consultation with all interest groups in the state, including elders, community leaders, professionals, youth groups and friends, across in the state.
Making his declaration known, Dr. Zakka Yakubu who is noted for his charity activities said that the experience he has gathered for nearly thirty years during which time he has worked closely with government institutions, development partners and civil servants at different levels, he has no doubt that he is well placed to provide the people of Nasarawa State with the leadership that will exploit the vast economic resources available in the state for the benefit of all and sundry.
He said that, “My life in public service has taught me the importance of discipline, prudent financial management, and responsible leadership. I am not stepping into politics for personal gain. I am stepping forward because I believe Nasarawa State deserves leadership that is honest, competent and focused on delivering results for ordinary citizens.
“I believe our state can be transformed if we apply prudent management of resources, bold but responsible development plans, and inclusive politics that leaves no community behind.”
The governorship aspirant noted that Nasarawa State is blessed with highly educated people who are hard-working and resilient, and the land is rich in agriculture and mineral resources, but that the people of the state must do more to translate these blessings into better opportunities for the citizens.
“We must build an economy that creates jobs for our youths. We must strengthen education and healthcare. We must ensure transparency and accountability in the management of public resources,” Dr. Zakka asserted.
He made several pledges as the next Governor of Nasarawa State, by God’s grace, which included among others, investing in education and skills, training to equip young people for the jobs of today and tomorrow, strengthening primary healthcare with special focus on maternal and child health, empowering women with access to capital and training to enable them become agents of family and community prosperity.
Dr. Zakka Ledkwi Yakubu disclosed that very soon, he will undertake campaign visits to every local government area in the state to consult and interact with the people, to listen to their views and solicit for their prayers, and to seek for their partnership, as well as to encourage them to, in his words, “join him in this movement for responsible leadership and shared prosperity.”
